I recently went to **"TAMA Comi 13"** held at Tokyo Tama Mirai Messe!

TAMA Comi is a "creative and comprehensive expression event" that brings together illustrations, comics, and original goods. This time, a "Godzilla, Gamera, and Special Effects Only" event was also being held at the same venue, and the event utilized not only the first floor but also the conference rooms on the third floor.

The event runs from 12:00 to 16:00. Admission is free, and you can come and go as you please, making it easy to drop by.

First, head to the TAMA Comi venue.

Upon entering the venue, I was greeted by rows and rows of booth spaces!

There was a variety of works on display, including illustration books, comics, and acrylic goods. Unlike large-scale sales events, I liked the atmosphere that allowed me to slowly browse each booth.

It's a common occurrence at doujin events (lol) to gradually loosen your purse strings when you find an item that catches your eye and think, "This is cute," or "I want this one too..."

At the photography club's booth, the yellow-themed display and character goods were quite eye-catching. Seeing these displays that showcase the individuality of each club is one of the joys of the event.

The character design exhibit is also interesting!

In addition to selling artwork, the venue also featured an exhibition of character designs .

The Halloween-themed costumes and the incredibly detailed character designs are fun to look at!

I enjoy looking at the finished illustrations, but personally, I also love looking at these setting drawings and three-view drawings. It's fun to realize, "Oh, so this costume was constructed like this!"

The works that received the Excellence Award were also on display, and it was impressive to see how different their approaches were.

Enjoy the venue's food to the fullest!

Walking around the event naturally makes you hungry, so we stopped for food along the way.

First up is a crepe topped with vibrant light blue cream, chocolate sauce, and cookies. It has a truly striking appearance!

And I also had some freshly fried potatoes.

I spent my holiday looking at doujinshi (self-published comics), browsing merchandise, going out for a bite to eat, and then returning to the venue... It's really nice to be able to enter and leave freely at times like these.

Here are my spoils of war!

And after returning home, it's time for the usual check of spoils of war.

I bought a lot of doujinshi (self-published comics) this time!

From books featuring cute characters to manga, the lineup turned out to be quite to my liking. Being able to see the works in person at the venue and think, "This looks interesting!" and then buy it is definitely something unique to a book sale.

Furthermore, I also received sweets and an eye mask.

I'm so happy that it even includes a handwritten message...! These little interactions are unique to events and create memories that you wouldn't get from simply buying artwork online.

Impressions of TAMA Comi 13

One point I'd recommend to people attending TAMA Comic for the first time, or after a long break, is that you can stroll around the venue at a relatively leisurely pace .

While the "people, people, people!" atmosphere of massive events is fun, the appeal of TAMA Comi is that it's easier to take your time looking at the artwork and to go back and check out circles that caught your eye.

The fact that admission is free makes it very accessible.

This event seems accessible not only to fans of creative works, but also to those who are interested in doujin events but find large-scale events a bit daunting to attend right away.

And already at the venue, there was an announcement for the TAMA Comi 14!

The next event is scheduled for July 19, 2027 (Monday, public holiday), from 12:00 to 16:00 at Tokyo Tama Mirai Messe . With 600 spaces available, it looks like it will be quite lively again next time.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself this time too, buying books, seeing exhibits, and eating.

Creative events are great, after all!

I'd like to go to the next TAMA Comi if my schedule allows.
