Hey everyone! Yesterday (June 7th), I attended COMITIA156 at Tokyo Big Sight, and wow… what an incredible, creative, and absolutely exhausting day! For those who don't know, COMITIA is a massive convention dedicated entirely to original self-published manga and art. The energy in the East Halls was unreal!

My Booth: Laurris Character 🧡

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth, Laurris Character!

I went with a bright, sunny yellow gingham theme this time to match my magical girl aesthetic, and I was so happy with how the display turned out. Seeing people stop to look at my character prints, acrylic stands, and keychains makes all the sleepless nights worth it. Getting to chat with fellow creators and visitors who appreciate original characters is always the absolute best part of exhibiting. Thank you so much for your support!

My Comic & Art Haul 📚🎨

Of course, I couldn't resist doing a bit of exploring (and spending!) myself. I managed to pick up some amazing books and gorgeous prints from some incredibly talented artists. Here are a few highlights from my haul:

  • Cute & Magical Vibes: I got my hands on several super cute books with a pink theme: "Change!" and "Friends!" (by Kinoshita Aki). The art style of the idols and magical girls is so cute and bright, it's perfect for inspiration! I also got some super cute doujinshi at Gunjor Mart.

  • Unique Stories & Creators: I'm thrilled to have gotten my hands on "CATHOUSE"  (by StalkingP/Stoppi). The character designs are intense and cool! I also got "Paranormal Tea Party" (by Kishikawa Keika). The unique gothic fantasy atmosphere is wonderful. I also acquired "Stay Girl" and the intriguing manga "Behind the Scenes of a Bank Customer Center." I want to read them all carefully.

  • Gorgeous Illustration Cards: Look at this beautiful collection of prints! I got a set of fantasy character cards from Fantastic Idol's (complete with QR codes to scan!), a stunning blue rose illustration print, and a beautifully dark, gothic character card that completely caught my eye.

Final Thoughts 💭

COMITIA always reminds me why I love creating art. Surrounded by thousands of people who just love independent storytelling and original character design is incredibly motivating.

To everyone who organized the event, the creators I chatted with, and everyone who supported Laurris Character+, thank you for making COMITIA156 an unforgettable experience. Time to rest my feet, dive into my new reading pile, and start planning for the next event!
