In 2016, I was in the fifth grade of elementary school.

Around that time, I transferred from the school I had been attending to a special needs school.

When I decided to transfer schools, I thought about a lot of things, like, "What will the new school be like?" and "Will I be able to make friends?" I was excited to go to an unfamiliar place, but I was also a little anxious.

And then, I went to a new school for the first time.

At first, I was nervous and couldn't bring myself to talk to anyone. But everyone in my class talked to me and played with me, and I gradually got used to school.

What made me especially happy was making new friends.

We would talk and play together during breaks. At first, we were mostly strangers, but before we knew it, we had made friends we were looking forward to seeing at school again tomorrow.

I was anxious before transferring schools, but once I actually started attending, I had so many new encounters.

Looking back now, I think transferring schools in the fifth grade was a pretty big event for me.

Changing environments can be scary. But it can also lead to meeting new friends.

That experience in 2016 is still one of my cherished memories.
