It's now the fifth day of my stay in Malaysia. Today's theme was "food," trying to immerse myself in the local lifestyle!

Piping hot! Freshly steamed Pau I found on a street corner

This morning, my eyes were suddenly drawn to a silver steamer filled with pure white bao buns . It's a common sight in Malaysian convenience stores and street stalls, but just seeing this lineup makes me excited.

  • Kacang (red bean paste) : RM 2.80

  • Kaya (Kaya Jam) : RM 2.80

  • Ayam (chicken) : RM 3.00

  • Daging (beef) : RM 3.00

It's fun to have choices like "kaya" (a coconut milk and egg jam), which is a little different from what you'd find in Japan, and "ayam" (chicken), which is typical of Malaysia. This time I chose the kaya, which has a gentle sweetness, and the sweet filling went perfectly with the freshly steamed, fluffy dough, making me feel happy from the morning.

We toasted with rich laksa and watermelon juice for dinner!

For dinner, I had **Laksa** served in a bright red bowl. The smooth noodles were perfectly coated in a slightly sour soup with a strong fish broth flavor. The crispness of the accompanying vegetables was a nice touch!

And a must-have on a hot Malaysian afternoon is this vibrant watermelon juice . The natural sweetness of the fruit itself refreshes the palate after a spicy noodle dish. Eating lunch while sitting across from someone and listening to the lively sounds of the local area is truly one of the joys of travel.

After the fifth day

While sightseeing is fun, I feel like I'm getting to know Malaysia more deeply by tasting the food that the locals eat every day. I wonder what delicious encounters await me tomorrow?
